Terms & Conditions — Crash Pad Hire

By completing a booking through our Shopify store, you (the "Hirer") acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following Terms and Conditions. These Terms apply to all crash pad hire bookings made with OCUN Australia (ALS Trade PTY LTD).

1. Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older to hire a crash pad from OCUN Australia. By completing a booking, you confirm that you meet this requirement. Valid photo identification must be presented at the time of collection. OCUN Australia reserves the right to refuse hire to any person who cannot provide valid photo identification confirming they are 18 years of age or older.

2. Hire Equipment

The following crash pads are currently available for hire, subject to availability at the time of booking: the OCUN Dominator. The OCUN Joker, Moonwalk, and Incubator pads will be made available for hire in the near future — rates for these pads will be published when they become available.

3. Hire Rates

The standard hire rate for the OCUN Dominator is $30.00 per day. The following multi-day rates apply: 3 days for $70.00, 7 days for $150.00, and 10 days for $210.00. For hire periods beyond 10 days, please contact us directly to arrange an extended hire.

4. Booking & Payment

All bookings must be made online via our Shopify store. Payment is required in full at the time of booking. We accept all major credit and debit cards through the Shopify payment platform.

5. Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit of $200.00 is required at the time of booking for the OCUN Dominator. Deposit amounts for additional pads will be advised when those pads become available. The deposit will be refunded within 3–5 business days once the pad is returned on time, in a clean condition, and without damage beyond normal wear and tear. The deposit may be applied toward any outstanding fees, repair costs, or replacement costs in the event of damage, loss, or theft.

6. Collection & Return

Pads are to be collected and returned in person at: 35/23 Chambers Road, Altona North VIC 3025 (entry via Barnes Road). Collection and return hours are 9:00am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday. Collections or returns outside of these hours may be arranged by prior agreement with OCUN Australia. Valid photo identification must be presented at the time of collection. The pad must be returned by the agreed return date. Late returns will incur a fee of $30.00 per day for each day beyond the agreed return date.

7. Care & Condition of Pads

The Hirer is responsible for taking reasonable care of the hired pad throughout the hire period. Pads must be returned clean — mud and dirt should be brushed or wiped off prior to return. Normal wear and tear such as minor scuffs or surface marks is acceptable. Pads must not be placed in water or on wet surfaces, and a waterproof barrier should be used between the pad and any damp ground. Pads must not be altered, modified, or repaired by the Hirer. All components supplied with the pad, including straps, buckles, or accessories, must be returned. A cleaning fee of $20.00 may apply if the pad is returned with unreasonable dirt or debris.

The condition of the pad will be noted at the time of collection. Any pre-existing damage will be recorded and agreed upon by both parties before the pad leaves the premises, and a copy of this record will be retained by OCUN Australia. The Hirer will not be held responsible for damage that was documented as pre-existing at the time of collection.

8. Damage, Loss & Replacement

The Hirer is responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to the pad beyond normal wear and tear during the hire period. Damage beyond reasonable wear and tear will be assessed by OCUN Australia staff and charged accordingly, up to the full replacement value of the pad. In the event of loss, theft, or irreparable damage, the Hirer will be liable for the full retail replacement cost of the pad. Failure to return the pad by the agreed return date without prior communication to OCUN Australia may be treated as unreturned equipment, and the security deposit may be processed accordingly. The security deposit will be applied toward any outstanding damage, loss, or replacement costs.

9. Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations made at least 24 hours prior to the rental start date will receive a full refund of the hire fee and security deposit. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the rental start date, or after the pad has been collected, are non-refundable for the hire fee; however, the security deposit will be returned within 3–5 business days provided the pad has not been collected. Security deposits will be refunded within 3–5 business days following a successful return of the pad in acceptable condition.

10. Safety & Intended Use

Crash pads are intended solely as landing protection for bouldering. By hiring a pad, the Hirer acknowledges that crash pads are not a substitute for proper bouldering technique, spotter assistance, or other risk mitigation practices, and that their use does not eliminate the risk of injury or death while bouldering outdoors. Outdoor bouldering involves inherent risks including falls on uneven or steep terrain, falling rocks or other objects, uneven landing surfaces, and physical injuries such as scrapes, bruises, strains, and fractures. The Hirer is solely responsible for educating themselves on the correct use of crash pads and safe bouldering practices. Crash pads must not be used as fall protection in activities other than bouldering, including but not limited to rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking, or sport climbing.

11. Liability Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OCUN Australia (ALS Trade PTY LTD) accepts no liability for any injury, death, loss, or damage suffered by the Hirer or any third party arising from the use of hired crash pads. The Hirer willingly assumes all risks associated with the use of the hired equipment and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless OCUN Australia, its directors, employees, and agents from any claims arising from such use. OCUN Australia reserves the right to refuse hire to any person it reasonably believes may pose a health or safety risk to themselves or others.

12. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia.
